What is the one emotion that has everyone mystified? What is the one emotion that has started as many wars as it has ended? What emotion has had more plays, songs, and stories written about it than anything else? Love, that one emotion that makes enemies into friends and friends into enemies. So many legends surround this emotion, from the goddess Athena and Helen of Troy to Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. We can postulate that the most important object of love is people. That people are the central part of love, and that all other forms of love are just extensions and sometimes perversions (such as the love of money). Our love doesn’t involve only people. There are many dozens of loves and objects of love. We can love things, memories, ideas, beauty, literature, music, God… Love isn’t restricted to the love of people.Nevertheless, human life and human love is made of much more then just love of people. We can’t limit the object of our loves to people – be they our relatives, our neighbours and friends, or even mankind. Life supposes a broader relationship of love: a relationship with other forms of life and the universe, with knowledge and wisdom, with beauty, music. We have to love more than just people. There are so many levels to love, that I can only express a few of them here. These are the ones we see most in life. Friendship starts this list off. Yes, it doesn't seem like it, but we do feel love towards our friends, this is what helps us get along so well, and why we miss them when we don't see our friends for a long time. It's also why we hold certain friends over others no matter what happens. Sometimes, the bond between friends deepens to the point where a stronger bond of love is made, making them family.Love comes in so many different levels, that it doesn't appear to be the same emotion at all, but it is.It can tear people apart and make us do irrational things to bringing together entire nations. What can this emotion not do? It's hard to tell, but there is a lot it can.Another type of love, are for our siblings and other family members. Even though we do things to our family members, and sometimes we don't like some of our family, that bond is still there. It's this family bond level of love that brought about the phrase, blood is thicker than water. We will do things for our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers, and children before we would even consider doing them for anyone else. Many wars have been started because of this family level, brother avenging brother or father, father protecting his wife and children, or even vice versa. This simple family bond can even extend to include our pets, amazingly enough, and that is a good thing. The phrase, love makes the world go round is very true. It's is our driving force, for what ever reason it may be. Poems, plays, and legends can only briefly touch the true meaning of love. We can only feel what that meaning is, and express it in ways only we can understand towards another. The true question we should be asking is not, what is life, but what is love."Love is the ability and willingness to allow those that you care for to be what they choose for themselves without any insistence that they satisfy you." ~ Wayne W. Dyer
At first rub you may look at this quote and say, that sounds hard. But then again, if you could have other people offer you that same sort of love, you would probably take it without hesitating. In order to recieve, we first must give. Look at those certain people in your life who you feel are not very accepting towards you, and make it your project to accept them--exactly the way they are! When they feel this love and acceptance, they won't be able to hold onto their unforgiveness much longer. On the other hand, sometimes it can be hard to release expectations of our loved ones, because we want the best for them and we think we know what's best for them. We must alwaysLove requires commitment. Without commitment, love will not be able to grow. Commitment is a risk one has to be willing to take and accept the possibility of disappointment or emotional pain. Although commitment is demanding and a lot of hard work, being committed to someone can be very rewarding.language cannot fully describe love and in fact it will be an understatement of love, but for the sake of this composition I will make an attempt. Love is a sense of communication, caring, and emotion, benefiting both parties exchanging it. Love is a unity between humans. Caring, forgiveness, and acceptance are forms of love. Note that love comes in many forms, and it is not always the romantic love that you are probably most accustomed to.Human love is just that, love between humans. If we are capable of it, then it is in our human nature. The capability of love is an honorable human trait and should be exploited to the fullest; and why not exploit it? It feels glorious, both the giving and the receiving of it. It is the most powerful gift we humans have. It can and will, so long as hope continues to thrive, trump any evil act it may confront. Every single human being is capable of love, every single human has it in them; it just sometimes needs a helping hand in order to surface. Every human, deep inside, wants to experience love. Oh and on a side note, start with yourself. You are in fact a conscious human being, and loving yourself is very possible. Some people say love is once-in-a lifetime and others think that after one love ends, another comes. The more one tries to find a universal definition of love, the more one can get confused with all the meanings one gets from different people around them. As soon as one thinks they got closer to the true meaning of love, one may come to realize that the definition of love is unique to one another.
